Kishi Bashi

Friday, Nov 17 · 9:00 PM · Alberta Rose Theatre

“Sonderlust” is an album forged through heartbreak. After his two previous studio albums (“151a” & “Lighght”), Kishi Bashi was at a musical impasse. “I tried to create orchestral pop recordings that I assumed were my forte, and in turn I found myself standing in front of a creative wall of frightening heights.” At this very same moment of musical uncertainty, K’s personal life was falling apart… He and his wife of 13 years had briefly separated and were struggling to keep their marriage together. “This album is straight from my soul. I questioned everything about what it means to love and desire. The difference between loving someone and being in love.” There will be a complimentary special screening of an early cut of K Ishibashi’s documentary film, Project 9066, 30 minutes after doors. Tickets $26.

Wednesday Night Zydeco

Wednesday, Nov 22 · 7:15 PM · The Secret Society

Wednesday Night Zydeco Cascade Zydeco hosts a friendly, welcoming DJ dance every Wednesday. We start with a 45-minute zydeco lesson (or sometimes blues or waltz), followed by two hours of DJ’d dancing to a Zydeco, Cajun, blues, swing and waltz playlist. Great for beginners and experienced dancers. Zydeco dancers often change partners after every song, so there’s no need to come with a partner. Drop in once, become a regular! Et toi! What is Cascade Zydeco? Cascade Zydeco is 501(c)3 Oregon non-profit association with members from all over the USA. CZ fulfills its mission of building and sustaining Zydeco, Cajun, and other music & dance from Louisiana by sponsoring dances, hosting live Zydeco and Cajun bands, organizing dance workshops and special events, and by supporting the Waterfront Blues Festival.
